Photo sharing is on its way
Photo sharing isn't live in SafeWingsChat yet. We're building it the same careful way we built everything else โ with both families' parents needing to say yes before a single photo can flow. Here's how it's designed to work once it ships.
Why photo sharing is taking care to get right
Letting kids send pictures is where a lot of chat apps get nervous, so we're not rushing it. The plan: instead of photos passing through our own servers, each family will connect their own cloud storage, and photos will be saved directly there โ in an account they already own and control. We'll only ever keep a link to the photo, never the photo itself.
The two-key model
Just like every contact on SafeWingsChat, photos will need approval from both sides: the sending family's parent turns on "can send photos" for a specific contact, and the receiving family's parent separately turns on "can receive photos" from that same contact. Neither parent can switch it on alone.
Nothing to set up yet
Everything else in SafeWingsChat is ready to use right now โ text chat, contact approval, and safety flagging all work today.
